Promoting Speculative Poetry

If you'd like to promote SFPA or speculative poetry more general, this page has links, press release templates, and other information.

In addition to these resources, consider the following options:

  • Add a SFPA banner and a link to our site on your web page or e-mail signature.
  • Encourage writers and readers of poetry to join our .io group: groups.io/g/sfpanet
  • Buy gift SFPA memberships or gift copies of the Rhysling Anthology, Dwarf Stars Anthology, and Science Fiction Poetry Handbook.
  • Attend and participate in local poetry readings, open mikes, and slams, and bring SFPA flyers for attendees to take with them (or request other publications to give out from the Executive Committee).
  • Suggest that your local or regional Cons include poetry panels and readings in their programming. Volunteer to moderate a genre poetry round robin. Bring SFPA flyers to Cons to distribute and to place on the free promotional items table.
  • When poets ask where they can submit their poetry, refer them to the SFPA Markets page, which lists both paying and nonpaying markets.
