SFPA presents a number of awards related to speculative poetry and poets.

Dwarf Stars Award

This juried award is given by the SFPA to recognize the best speculative poem of 1–10 lines published in the previous year.

Elgin Award

The Elgin Awards, named for Suzette Haden Elgin, are presented annually by SFPA for chapbooks and books published in the preceding two years.

Grand Masters Award

The status of Grand Master is granted by SFPA to poets whose body of work shall reflect the highest artistic goals of the SFPA

Lifetime Service Award

The President’s Lifetime Service Award embodies exemplary attitude and dedication to the SFPA and the speculative genre.

The Rhysling award is granted annually in two categories: best short poem and best long poem.

Contests

Annual Poetry Contest

SFPA's annual contest is intended to raise funds for SFPA, as well as to draw more attention to speculative poetry and support writers of speculative poems. The first contest was held in 2006, and an eligibility survey was held in 2015.
