G-FEST is the largest regular gathering of Godzilla and Japanese monster fans in the world. Held each summer, it typically attracts more than 1000 attendees. This year, for its 24th year it will be held July 14th-16th in Rosemont, Illinois at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare.
On Sunday at noon on July 16th, SFPA President Bryan Thao Worra will be giving a presentation on Kaiju in Speculative Poetry. The talk is presented as: "Beyond the screens, Godzilla and other kaiju have also inspired numerous books of poetry over the decades."
The session will include a lively reading and discussion of where we might go next with Godzilla poetry. Among the authors highlighted as examples in addition to his own work, will be notable poets such as Bao Phi, Yusef Komunyakaa, Bryan D. Dietrich, Simon Bucher-Jones, Jay Snodgrass, and many others.
