Tracy K. Smith is the new US Poet Laureate
Congratulations to poet Tracy K. Smith. Her collection, "Life on Mars" won the 2012 Pulitzer Prize, and now she's the Poet Laureate of the United States. Smith was born in 1972 in Massachusetts and grew up in Northern California. She was 1997-1999 Stegner Fellow at Stanford University, and has a BA from Harvard and an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University. She is the author of three books of poetry, with a fourth forthcoming in April 2018. Tracy K. Smith was a 2014 recipient of the Academy of American Poets fellowship, and her 2015 memoir Ordinary Light was a finalist for the National Book Award in nonfiction. Be sure to give her work a read!
