Jumping

He walked up to where the three of us were
standing around and said, "Let's settle
fixing your motorbike right now,
Becky" and looked into the eyes of this grown daughter's
boyfriend when he said it.
And everyone jumped.    I jumped
in to reassure him that everyone
was jumping.     The boyfriend said, "Miami?
Saturday?" The girl said, "Fine" and it was
done except that I had a
fishy feeling. Why were we
jumping so high?     That blond face
we all revered    shining    mild
we would do anything for.
But why did he look at
the boyfriend instead of at her     the daughter he loves
and cherishes but does not trust.
He looked at the boyfriend.
I don't know when I'll get over it.
