Debajo del limón
dormía la niña,
y sus pies en el agua fría.
Su amor por aí vendría:
--¿Qué hases, mi novia garrida?
--Asperando a vos, mi vida,
lavando vuestra camisa
con xabón y lexía.
Debajo del limón, la niña,
su pies en al agua fría:
su amor por aí vendría.
                                 Beneath the lemon tree
slept the girl,
her feet in the cold water
till her love came by:
--What are you up to, my darling bride?
--Waiting for you, my life,
washing your shirt
with soap and lye.
The girl beneath the lemon tree,
her feet in the cold water
till her love came by.
