If I Tell You About My Life

RAN (Scandinavian) The Great Sea Goddess. Her 9 daughters, who were
sometimes mermaids, sometimes waves, are called The Claws of Ran.

If I tell you about my life, will you listen?
Once I was young and loved the sea.
Water and wind, the sun a great, indifferent beast.
They ate away my days.

Once I was young and loved the sea,
A woman with no daughters and no sons.
They ate away my days.
How beautifully those hours blazed.

A woman with no daughters and no sons,
We walked mangrove beaches hunting crayfish.
How beautifully those hours blazed.
Bells of distant boats rang out indigo.

We walked mangrove beaches hunting crayfish.
Coral and sea grape fanning out before us,
Bells of distant boats rang out indigo.
I sang them the love of mermen, the Claws of Ran.

Coral and sea grape fanning out before us,
Water and wind, the sun a great, indifferent beast.
I sang them the love of mermen, the Claws of Ran.
If I tell you about my life, will you listen?
