Ramona Crofoot

Beach Glass Earrings

two young boys tease on the boardwalk
green glass bottle carelessly thrown

shatters with crashing waves
on barnacle covered bow

fragments washed upon the beach
tumbled and rolled haphazardly

a shiny piece embedded in the sand
a girl with braids ponders, tosses it to sea

remnants of Albert, Beth, Charles
sand washing through the seasons

straw brimmed artist beachcombing
bits of sand polished green beckon

a matching pair of sea foam
entwined in silver wire

raffia ribboned box tied tenderly, watercolor card
hidden in her boyfriend's pocket
