About the Author and the Artists

Ana Consuelo Matiella
Ana Consuelo Matiella is the author OR editor of several books on multicultural education and produces fotonovelas on educational topics. She is a columnist for the Santa Fe New Mexican, and her work has been anthologized in Walking the Twilight: Women Writers of the Southwest.. Her fiction collection, The truth about Alicia and other stories, was published by University of Arizona Press in 2002.

Angela Berkson
Angela Berkson attended Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, studied encaustic painting in NY with Rachel Friedberg, and received her BFA from the University of Texas at Austin. She lives and works in Albuquerque, NM and has been devoted to the encaustic medium for more than 10 years. Her work has been exhibited in California, New Mexico, Texas, and at the WomanMade Gallery in Chicago, IL as part of a national juried show of encaustic painters.

Carole Pryharska
Carole Pryharska studied art at the Boston Museum School of Fine Arts and Northeastern University. Her works has been exhibited in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, NM, Boston MA, New York, NY and Columbus, OH.

Peter Voshefski
Peter Voshefsky lives and works in Albuquerque and is a graduate of the University of New Mexico.
