William Alba

Moonlet

green apples floating in an elastic cloth basket
half-burnt charred logs in a fireplace
pine wood ceiling beams wormed and knotted
steam shower breathing steam breathing hard
white plush towels hanging near the heater
smell of dog lying on pillow
pussy willows in a porcelain jar
one door leads to the decorated car

when I was a child I felt the fuzz
between my fingers of the delicate pussy willow

when I was a child I felt the fuzz
with the pad of my finger the light fur on my filtrum

when I was a child I felt the fuzz
against my lips of my teddy bear in bed

when I was a child I felt the fuzz
of the peach as I held it in my mouth
